So excited! It's release day for my sexy, sci-fi romance PIRATE'S WOMAN!
I've always thought pirates are so damn sexy! Blame it on all those historical romances I read as a teen. There was nothing hotter than a big, strong handsome pirate falling for the feisty woman he either kidnapped, rescued or a combination thereof!
But while my experience with pirates was in the historical genre, I didn't want to write an historical. Instead, I wanted to do sci-fi. And I wanted it to be hot! So, I came up with a story about a beautiful woman named Teyla who agrees to let the sinfully handsome pirate Slayter sell her as a sex slave on the auction block in order to pay off the enormous debt her family owes him. Teyla is determined to bring in as much money as she can, but is afraid she won't fetch a high price because she's inexperienced when it comes to men. That's when things get really fun because she asks Slayter if he'll teach her how to pleasure a man. Just to improve her value, you know? Of course, he agrees. How could he say no, right?
Now, here's where the story gets complicated. While he's instructing her on how to be a sex slave, Slayter starts falling for Teyla, and she for him. But she agreed to pay off her family's debt and he needs the money for his ship and his crew. What can either of them do?
You'll have to read the story to find out! And to give you added incentive, I'll tease you with a steamy excerpt.

Excerpt:
“Have you ever been to Arkhon before?” she asked, trying to distract herself so she wouldn’t stare at him.
Slayter sopped up what was left of his stew with a piece of bread. “Once.”
She would have thought he’d go more since he was a pirate. “What will happen when we get there?”
He hesitated. “I’m not quite sure. I’ve never sold a slave before, but I imagine it will be the same process as selling anything else there.”
Meaning she would be put on the auction block and sold to the highest bidder. “Do you know if buyers look for certain things when they purchase a sex slave?”
He frowned slightly. “I suppose.”
“You don’t think they’ll want to…sample the merchandise before they buy, will they?”
“I’m sure some buyers might, but I don’t think the people who run the auction would allow that.” Slayter must have seen the relief on her face because he gave her a reassuring smile.
“You don’t have anything to be concerned about, Teyla. You’re a very beautiful woman. Any man can see that.”
Considering the situation, the compliment shouldn’t have warmed her like it did, but she felt herself blush anyway. “It’s just that I don’t have very much experience when it comes to sex. I mean, I’m not a virgin, but I haven’t been with a lot of men, either. I’m concerned potential buyer will know right away that I’m inexperienced.” She looked at him from beneath lowered lashes. “I don’t want you to come out on the short end of this exchange.”
He shook his head. “I really don’t think that’s going to be a problem.”
She frowned. “Maybe, but my family would be very embarrassed if I didn’t earn enough money on the block to cover the debt.” She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “This is very difficult to ask, but do you think you might be able give me some advice on how best to please a man?”
“Advice?” His eyes went a little wide at that, and he cleared his throat. “Uh, actually, sex is more of a…hands-on thing.”
“Oh.”
Teyla chewed on her lower lip. She couldn’t believe she was even contemplating what she was about to do, but the thought that one of her sisters might end up where she was if she didn’t earn the required money to cover the debt was enough to give her the courage she needed.
She lifted her gaze to look at Slayter. “Would you be willing to give me hands-on experience then?”
He arched a brow, but didn’t say anything. From the expression on his face, it was clear he was taken aback by her request.
“I know I probably shouldn’t be asking you for favors, but I just want to make sure you receive the money my family owes you.” When he still didn’t answer, she added softly, “If you don’t find me pleasing enough to bed, I understand.”
She was afraid to think what that would mean when it came to her value on the auction block. What would happen if no one bid on her at all?
The corner of Slayter’s mouth curved. “I find you quite pleasing, Teyla. Perhaps more than I should.”
Her pulse quickened. “Then you’ll teach me?”
There was a very long pause, then, “Yes, I’ll teach you. If that’s what you really want.”
“It is. Can we start now?”
They only had a few days before they reached Arkhon, and she didn’t want to waste any time.
He hesitated, then nodded. “If you’d like.”
Slayter might have seemed hesitant when she’d first brought it up, but now that he had agreed, she could see the fire burning in his eyes.
Something told her the pirate would be a very thorough teacher. Heat pooled between her thighs at the thought of him showing her all the different ways she could pleasure a man. She might learn more with him in a few days than she probably ever would have with the men on her planet.
Slayter stood and came around to her side of the table. Taking her hand, he gently pulled her to her feet. Teyla had known out the pirate was tall when she’d stood in front of him in the cargo hold earlier, but now she realized just how tall he really was. She barely came up to those broad shoulders of his.
She waited for Slayter to say something, but he simply gazed down at her. The smolder in his gold eyes took her breath away and she swayed toward him. Her reaction to being so close to him caught her off guard, but before she could steady herself, he lowered his head and covered her mouth with his. The kiss took her by surprise and for a moment she didn’t know how to respond.
She hadn’t expected Slayter to do something so intimate. She’d thought they would shed their clothes and get to it. But as his mouth moved slowly and deliciously over hers, she melted against the hard wall of his chest. He slid his hand in her long hair, deepening the kiss with a groan. Teyla parted her lips under his, sighing with pleasure when his tongue invaded her mouth to claim hers. She ran her hands up his chest to clutch his shoulders, afraid if she didn’t hold on to something that she would fall. She didn’t know a man’s kisses could be so intoxicating.
Or that the feel of his hands on her body could set her afire. But as his free hand slid up her midriff to cup her breast through the thin material of her dress, the heat that had pooled between her thighs earlier completely engulfed her. If she responded to him like this when they were fully clothed, how was she going to react when they were both naked?
That was when she remembered the purpose behind what they were doing. She was supposed to be learning how to pleasure Slayter, but instead it was the other way around.
She wondered if she should remind him of that, but as he trailed kisses along the curve of her jaw and down her neck, she decided to play the willing student and leave the teaching part to him.

Stoked! Season 4 of Teen Wolf just came in the mail.
I immediately checked out the Bestiary included with the DVDs. It's supposed to be a book of supernatural creatures. Of course I skipped right to the part on werewolves. I guess they got some of it right, but there were definitely some flaws. Then again, most humans really don't get werewolves.

“Lieutenant, this is Malloy,” Jax shouted into his radio. “Tory and I are going up the east side stairwell. We have a report of people trapped on the upper floors.”
“Roger that. Watch yourselves up there.”
Running up steps while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus, helmet, and fire-resistant turn-out suit that weighed an extra sixty pounds wasn’t exactly fun, but as a firefighter, Jax was used to it. He automatically controlled his breathing so he could conserve as much air in his SCBA as possible, and kept humping up the smoke-filled stairwell. The fire was already eating through the walls above him, and the ceiling didn’t look like it was far behind. The hotel had ten minutes tops before it was completely devoured by flames.
He and Tory almost tripped over an older man down on his knees on the third-floor landing. His equally older wife was at his side, urging him to get to his feet. The woman’s shoulders sagged with relief at the sight of them.
Jax was all set to help her while Tory assisted her husband, but the woman waved his hand away.
“There’s a young woman up on the fifth floor. She helped us down, then went back up looking for other people,” she said, her voice hoarse from the smoke. “I can walk down. You go find her.”
Jax glanced at Tory to see him pressing the mask of his air pack against the old man’s face. Splitting up once you went inside a burning building wasn’t smart...but sometimes it had to be done.
“You good?” he asked.
His fellow firefighter nodded. “Go. I’ll get these two down by relay if I have to.”
Giving Tory a nod, Jax sprinted up the stairs. A moment later, he heard Tory’s voice on the radio, saying that he was coming down with two, while Jax was heading up for another.
By the time Jax reached the fifth floor, he knew the chances of finding anyone alive up there was slim. All public places like this were supposed to have sprinklers and water deluge systems, but if the hotel had them, they weren’t working. He could feel the heat from the flames even with all his gear on, and knew the air was getting hot enough to sear lung tissue. He kept going, though. He’d seen miracles too many times to give up on anyone.
Ten steps later, he almost stumbled over a woman lying on the floor. She had a wet bath towel over her shoulders, and another draped over her head. Smart girl, he thought as he crouched down beside her. He was half afraid he was too late, but then the woman coughed. Wrapping one arm around her, Jax gently pulled her up into a sitting position, then took off his mask to place it over her nose and mouth, pushing the button on the regulator to dump extra air into it.
He would have preferred to wait to see if the woman was able to breathe, but he couldn’t risk it. The building could give way any minute. So instead, he got the straps on the mask over the girl’s head as well as he could with her long hair, then scooped her into his arms and headed for the stairwell.
The smoke burned his throat like acid as he carried the girl down the five flights of stairs, but he ignored it. Another crew of firefighters were heading up as he came down, and he gave them a nod as he maneuvered around them, then through what was left of the lobby and out the front door. Damn, fresh air never tasted so good.
“Malloy. Out of the building with one rescue,” he called over his radio as he hurried over to the collection of Dallas Rescue vehicles and regular ambulances set up on the far side of Jacobs street. There were at least a dozen other patients already there, sitting on gurneys or on the ground. Most had oxygen masks on, getting good air into their lungs. Jax saw the older couple he’d left with Tory in the stairwell, but there was no sign of the other firefighter. He’d probably already gone back inside.
Alec McIntyre, one of the paramedics from Jax’s station immediately ran over, a green oxygen tank with a mask kit already attached in his hand. Jax gently placed the woman on the ground, then turned off the valve on the top of his tank and took the big face firefighter’s face mask away. Alec quickly replaced it with the smaller medical mask. The woman was aware enough to get her hands around it and press it firmly to her face, breathing deep.
“I’ve got her,” Alec said, already checking the woman for burns and other injuries.
Jax was about to turn around and head back to the burning hotel when the woman flipped her hair aside to fit the oxygen mask more closely to her face. Jax stared, stunned.
“Skye, is that you?” he asked.
He was sure he was wrong even as he said the words. No way could the slim, curvy girl sitting on the curb be the little sister of his best friend and fellow firefighter, Dane Chandler. Three years younger than them, Skye had spent most of their childhood running around behind them wanting to be included in everything they did. He hadn’t seen her in years, not since he’d graduated high school and moved away. Skye had only been a freshman in high school then, all skinny arms, long legs, knobby knees and sharp elbows.
The woman blinked up at him, her big, blue eyes going wide as they filled with recognition. Damn, it was her. Little Skye had grown up, and even through all the dirt and grime he couldn’t miss the fact that she’d become one hell of a beautiful woman.

Excerpt:
They didn’t talk much on the way to her apartment, and when they got there, Gray caught her arm before she could go inside.
“Let me take a look around first,” he said.
She lifted a brow. “You’re joking, right?"
He pinned her with steely eyes. “Do I look like I’m joking?”
She shook her head. “Fine. Whatever.”
Paisley knew she should be grateful Inspector Beckham took his job seriously, but this was a little ridiculous. The only thing she was in danger of was getting smothered by her overprotective father. When Beckham didn’t come back out, she walked inside and headed into the kitchen to open her mail. That earned her a dark scowl from the inspector when he came out of the bedroom several minutes later. Paisley pretended not to notice.
“I’ve been on a stakeout for a couple of days,” he said after declaring the apartment clear. “Do you mind if I use your shower?”
She glanced up from the Victoria’s Secret catalog she’d been flipping through. “No, go ahead.”
“Thanks.” He picked up his overnight bag from the floor where he’d left it. “I won’t be long. Keep the door locked and don’t open it to anyone.”
Yeah, yeah. She went back to flipping through the catalog, only to pause when she heard the shower turn on a few minutes later. She’d been looking for a way to give Beckham the slip ever since they’d walked out of the police station and she wasn’t going to get a better opportunity than right now.
Tossing the catalog on the counter, Paisley hurried out of the kitchen and into her bedroom. Knowing she wouldn’t have enough time to do more than pack a few things before Gray came out, she decided to forget about the basics and instead just grab a dress and a pair of high heels to wear that night. Everything else she could borrow from whichever friend she stayed with. At least until it was safe to come back to her place. By safe she meant when there wasn’t some cop hanging around it. Shoving the dress into an evening purse, Paisley picked up her shoes in her free hand and darted from the room. She’d barely made it past the bathroom when the door opened.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” Beckham demanded from behind her.
Paisley stopped in her tracks at the commanding tone in his voice. Crap. She’d hoped to slip out before he finished taking his shower. It just wasn’t fair that guys could clean up so fast. Squaring her shoulders, she whirled around to face him. And blinked. Though he'd put on jeans, he hadn’t bothered with a shirt, and all she could do was stare at him in feminine appreciation. She’d known he was built, but she hadn’t realized just how well. Broad shoulders, chiseled pecs, and rock-hard abs. Daaaaammmn! He had a body that just wouldn’t quit.
Gray crossed his arms over his chest. “Well?” he prompted when she said nothing.
Paisley tore her gaze from his perfectly sculpted arms to look up at him. She hadn’t realized he was so tall. Even in heels, she was still almost a head shorter than he was.
She lifted her chin. “Out.”
His golden brown eyes narrowed. “Not without me, you’re not.”
She let out a sigh. “Look. Like I told you before, this isn’t going to work. I’m going to stay with some friends until this whole thing blows over. You can just tell my dad that I gave you the slip. He won’t hold it against you.”
“I don’t think so.”
She clenched her jaw. “I wasn’t asking for your permission, Inspector. I’m leaving and you can’t stop me.”
Paisley didn’t wait for an answer as she whirled around and started for the door. She didn’t even make it halfway there before Gray caught her arm and turned her back around.
“You’re not going anywhere.”
She glared up at him. “Oh, really? And just how are you going to stop me? Handcuff me to the bed?”
Her words hung in the air between them for a long moment before his mouth finally quirked. “Though I’ll admit that’s tempting. I have something more effective in mind.”
Before she could ask what he meant by that, Gray led her over to the couch. What was he going to do, sit her down and lecture her?
Gray didn’t sit her down at all, but instead took a seat himself. Totally perplexed, she started to ask what he was doing when a tug on her arm sent her sprawling over his knee. She had to drop the purse and shoes just so she could put her hands on the floor to keep herself balanced. For a moment, Paisley was so stunned she just lay there. She recovered quickly enough, though, and when she did, she immediately tried to push herself upright. But a strong hand on her back held her firmly in place. Furious at being manhandled, she glared at him over her shoulder.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she demanded.
He returned her glower with one of his own. “Teaching you a lesson.”
Paisley opened her mouth to retort, only to let out a startled little gasp when she felt him smack her upturned bottom. He did not just spank her!
