Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Giveaway and an Interview with L.E. Wilson!

I'm part of a huge Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Giveaway taking place this week! There are fifteen authors and fifteen books you can get for FREE!

Check it out here!

http://www.whatisaplot.com/sff-giveaway/

Then check out this interview with one of the participating authors, L.E. Wilson!

Tell us what inspires you?

So many things inspire me! It could be a photo, or a poem, or a song, or even things that have happened to me in my own life. Like my grandmother coming back to haunt me. (Yes, that really happened. And a story idea centered around that time recently popped into my head.)

Tell us about your book(s).

I currently have two ongoing Paranormal Romance series published. My vampire series- the Deathless Night Series and my werewolf series - The Kincaid Werewolves. Readers have told me that they like my books because they have so many different elements: funny yet gory, hot alpha males, strong heroines, and some even touch the darker side of romance. I really love writing tortured heroes. Not sure what that says about me though…lol. I also have a new trilogy planned for next year. I can’t tell you too much about it yet though. I don’t want to give anything away!

Why do you love the Ninja Writers Facebook group?

Just interacting with different authors and sharing ideas. As an Indie author, you wouldn’t believe how helpful that is.

What is the one thing you can’t write without?

My bouncy ball that I sit on and my white peach tea! LOL I really do sit on an exercise ball when I write. It started out as a way to alleviate back pain, but now I can’t write without it. I bounce when I think. Don’t laugh. It really does help! :D

What’s your favorite paranormal creature and why?

Vampires, hands down. I’ve always been fascinated with them. One of my favorite series is Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. I’ve also always loved the romance genre, mostly Historical. So imagine my excitement when I discovered Paranormal Romance! I could’ve died happy right then and there. And now I write in this genre.

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

I have so many author friends thanks to RWA (Romance Writers of America). These people have become my tribe and I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I’m a member of the Greater Seattle and Eastside chapters here in my area, and everyone is so helpful and supportive. And I mean everyone. They were so good to me when I was a new author (and I still kind of am), and I strive to pay it forward with the new members that we get now.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

To start my writing career a lot sooner!

How do you balance making demands on the reader with taking care of the reader?

I love my readers, and I really love getting to know them. I have a private Facebook fan group for my hardcore fans. We talk about a lot of stuff there and have a lot of fun, and I do exclusive giveaways just for them. So when I ask them to help me promote something or have a new book coming out, they’re always super excited and helpful. I appreciate that and them so much, and I hope they know that.

How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

The only unpublished book I have is my current work in progress. I’m not one of those writers that has six different books started and none finished. I’m currently trying to up my game a bit though by working on two new novels at the same time. It’s challenging, but I found that I enjoy switching gears partway through the day. It keeps me excited about what I’m writing.

What does literary success look like to you?

Literary success to me is something that always changes. At first it was to get that first book published. Then it was to have readers like what I wrote. Then it was to publish more books, to make a living from my writing, and to keep improving my craft for my readers. I’m always striving to improve.

How many hours a day do you write?

I’m a full time writer. I usually get to my office (aka the spare room in my house that my husband and I made into an office) between 9-10am, and I write until 4pm or later. It just depends. Sometimes the characters won’t let me go until I finish writing down what they’re telling me. Sometimes, they’re like, “I can hear your stomach growling from here. For God’s sake, go eat something, woman.” lol

Does your family support your career as a writer?

Yes is an understatement for this question. I’m so very, very lucky. As a matter of fact, my husband is the reason I became a writer. My entire career started with a conversation that went something like: Me: I’m reading this really cool new book. But if I had written it, I would’ve done…this, that, or the other thing. My husband: Well, why don’t you? Me: Why don’t I what? My husband: Write a book! Me (my ire raising from the blatant dare he just issued): Well, maybe I will! And then I literally flounced from the room. So, I started thinking about it, and I came up with the rough outline of my first two books and I started writing. I still had my accounting job at this time, so it was slow going. Then we moved to the Pacific Northwest, and I was having a hard time finding work, so my wonderful husband said: Why don’t you just finish your book? And here we are, two years and five published books later. He’s my biggest supporter and fan, and I’m a very, very, lucky girl.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

My first book took me a year to write, almost exactly. My last book took me three months.

Do you believe in writer’s block?

This is a hard question to answer because I don’t want to answer for anyone else, and I know a lot of authors that claim that writer’s block happens to them. But for me? I have a solution that works every time: I sit my ass in the chair and finish the damn book. ☺ As a “pantser”, I do sometimes get stuck around the middle of a book, but usually all I need to get things going again is a walk by myself where I can get the blood flowing and not have any distractions. Or you know, my bouncy ball.

Bio:

Bestselling author L.E. Wilson writes Paranormal Romance novels for adults about intense alpha males and the women who are fearless enough to tame them…for the most part anyway. With high heat levels, loads of suspense, and characters whose personas range from playful and witty to dark and tormented, L.E. is a natural storyteller.

L.E. Wilson is a member of the Romance Writer’s of America and is active in the Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal chapter, the Greater Seattle chapter, and the Eastside chapter near her. She is also an Indie author, so please consider leaving an honest review anywhere and everywhere online. Reviews are like gold for authors, and help other readers find their books.

Born in a seriously small town in northeastern PA, she’s always open to new adventures and has managed to make her way all the way across the country. She now lives outside of Seattle with her patient husband, two sons, and two furry kids. Waking up to the mysterious mist-covered mountains there, (i.e. her backyard), only feeds her craving for all things supernatural.

Lattes are a necessary part of her writing process, and you’ll often find her typing away at the closest Starbucks…that she walks two miles to get to, to make up for all of those coffees. On the weekends she likes to hike, garden, cook vegan food, and have date nights with her favorite guy.
