Hubby and I aren't RT Virgins anymore!

That's right!  Hubby and I aren't RT Virgins anymore!  And since I finally got all the pics from RT uploaded to an album on my FB page, I thought I should do a recap to go with them!

We got to NOLA on Tues and after checking in, went to get our registrations packets. That's when we realize just how big the RT Con is!  They had boxes and boxes of packets to hand out.  We were taking over the hotel, as evidenced by all the posters around.  They weren't only on the walls, but on the floor and inside the elevators, too!  It was really cool!

After some quick unpacking, we kicked off the Con by having dinner at Saints & Sinners with my Blushing Books publisher. I've been writing for her for ten years now, so it was really nice to finally meet her in person.

When we got back to the hotel, the lounge was packed with readers and authors, so we dove right in and hung out there, too.  Which was what we discovered RT is pretty much all about.  Sure, there were workshops we sat in on, plus a lot more we thought we'd go to, but didn't because hanging out chatting with readers and writers was just too much fun to pass up!  Not only did I get to reconnect with one of my best friends from high school, author Tere Michaels (we both wanted to be writers back then, and here we are!), but we met up with authors and readers we've met before (Shoshanna Evers, Sasha Devlin, Virna dePaul, Nyrae Dawn, and Tracey Reid) as well as some we met for the first time (Regina Kammer, Sara Humphreys, Caridad Pineiro, and Jennilinh Dinh) just to name a few.  I also got to go all fan girl with my favorite author, Suzanne Brockmann.  You know how you're kind of nervous to meet your fave because you don't know what he or she will be like, but Suzanne is the best, and so sweet!  Hubby and I hung out with Suzanne and her hubby in the lounge talking about everything and anything. Definitely one of the highlights of RT!

I also got to do something you can't do anywhere, but at conferences and cons, and that's meet up and chat with my editor from Sourcebooks, Cat Clyne. After emailing and chatting on the phone so much, it was nice to "meet" her!

I know I've left lots of people and things out of this blog, but they're in the RT14 photo album on my FB page. If we're friends on there, hope you'll check them out!

Thursday Thirteen - Amazon Reviews for HER PERFECT MATE (X-OPS Book One)!

My first NY book HER PERFECT MATE (X-OPS Book One), a military/paranormal/suspense/thriller from Sourcebooks released on Tuesday and it already has 15 fantastic reviews on Amazon!  Here are snippets from thirteen of them!

1. "HER PERFECT MATE is perfecto! Mad scientists, a hunky and dorky male, sexy as sin feline heroine, testosterone and pheromones scenting the air, exciting chases and fights, furniture breaking smex, WHAT MORE CAN I ASK FOR?! I loved everything about this novel and its perfect balance of romance, action and urban fantasy. Cant wait to read more!" - Talk Supe Blog

2. "One of the best shifter romances I've read! As a couple, the two partners were freaking amazing! Screw-me-raw hot and mind-numbingly... right." - Lydia

3. "I really had a good time reading this book. The plot and pace, the tone, the character and romance development were all well written. There was a bit of everything in this one including a bit of suspense with a few surprise twists. Scenes just sparkled when these two main characters were present and I loved the action elements as much as the romance in this military-style paranormal." - Sophia Rose

4. "I found the whole story unique and different then what I have been reading lately. Paige did a great job setting up a framework for future stories. Can't wait to read the next book in this new series. Highly recommend!!!" - Jennifer

5. "What an exciting new book in this brand new series! It was well written, full of characters who were both convincingly good and bad and at the heart of it two main characters who are super sexy and rockin' action heroes. I have read Ms. Tyler's work before and thoroughly enjoyed it, but this has to be my new favorite of her works." - Gigis

6. "This is my first Paige Tyler book and I am totally in love with the world that she created." - Kelly at Books-n-Kisses

7. "I LOVED this book. What a great world and a great story. Just the perfect mix of paranormal and military suspense wrapped up in one really sexy story. There was tons of action... both the military and high-suspense driven action and smexy action. I loved it and ordered a print copy for my keeper shelf because this most definitely will be a series that I plan to continue to follow." - Smitten with Reading

8. "Even getting slashed by shifters and mangled by mad scientists, life is good for the delicious dynamic duo of Landon and Ivy. While battling bad guys, these two burn up the pages in the first X-Ops series book, HER PERFECT MATE.  This book has everything from smoking hot sex scenes featuring military men, model beautiful shifters working undercover operations, a secret government program, international terroristic bad guys and a lot of potential for additional books featuring other characters. HER PERFECT MATE is a pretty fantastic opening act in the X-Ops series and I'm looking forward to many more amazing stories to come from this very talented author." - Carole at The Romance Reviews (Top Pick)

9. "Ms Tyler has a new hit series on her hands with this perfect mix of Military men and a group of shifters who work for the Department of Covert Operations." - Cindy at SNS Reviews

10. "I couldn’t put it down." - D. Antonio

11. "Ms. Tyler's writing flows beautifully. Her Perfect Mate is filled with danger, adventure and plum full of sexiness. A must read." - Anna from Anna's Book Blog

12. "I wish I could order book two right now." - Elizabeth

13. "Paige Tyler has outdone herself with this riveting tale of extraordinary characters! This book will take you on a journey that will bewitch your full attention and keep you enchanted with it's twists, turns and plots of suspense. Thank you Ms. Paige Tyler for allowing me the honor and extreme pleasure of reading this magnificent story. You continue to amaze me with your wit!" - Brenda

My First NY Release! HER PERFECT MATE (X-OPS Book One) is Online and in Bookstores Everywhere Today!

It's my first Soucebooks release and I'm so excited I can barely sit still!  It's a military/paranormal/romantic-suspense/thriller called HER PERFECT MATE and it's the first book in my X-OPS Series!

The series revolves around the Department of Covert Operations, a secret organization within the Department of Homeland Security. They get impossible missions done by pairing the very best soldiers, law enforcement officers, and spies together with shifters—humans that possess special animal attributes in their DNA.

The heroine is a feline shifter named Ivy Halliwell. At the start of the book, the DCO is pairing her up with yet another military guy. To say she isn't thrilled is putting it mildly. But she has a good reason for that. Her previous partners hated her because she was different, and she thinks this new partner will feel the same. But Captain Landon Donovan is Special Forces, so he's used to taking impossible situations in stride. He's also hot, hunky, and smells delicious.

HER PERFECT MATE is a paranormal shifter story that blends romance, action, suspense, and military elements into one exciting package that will keep you up all night reading—I promise!

Blurb:

He's a High-Octane Special Ops Pro

When Special Forces Captain Landon Donovan is chosen for an assignment with the Department of Covert Operations, he's stunned to find his new partner is a beautiful woman who looks like she couldn't hurt a fly, never mind take down a terrorist.

She's No Kitten

Ivy Halliwell isn't your average covert op. She's a feline shifter, and more dangerous than she looks. Her feline DNA means she can literally bring out the claws when things get dicey. She's worked with a string of hotheaded military guys who've underestimated her special skills in the past. But when she's partnered with special agent Donovan, a man sexy enough to make any girl purr, things begin to heat up. He doesn't think she's a freak-and he's smokin' hot. Soon they're facing a threat even greater than anyone imagines...and an animal magnetism impossible to ignore.

Excerpt:

Landon expected Todd and Kendra to take him to another conference room, so he was surprised when they led him into what looked like a workout room. Mats covered the floor and a heavy bag hung from a hook in one corner. Weights and workout equipment filled a good portion of the room. A woman was seated cross-legged in the center of it, her eyes closed, her hands loosely resting on her knees. At their entrance, she gracefully uncurled herself from the floor and got to her feet.

She was wearing a pair of black workout pants like his ex-girlfriend used to wear when she went to yoga class, and a form-fitting tank top. He couldn’t help but notice her curvy, athletic body, expressive dark eyes, and full lips. With little makeup and her long, dark hair pulled up in a ponytail, she looked like the girl next door. Only more exotic than any girl he’d ever lived next door to, that was for sure.

He didn’t care how tired and irritated he was, this was a woman he definitely wouldn’t mind stopping to appreciate. Hopefully, one of his new training officers would introduce them before she left to give them the room.

“Landon, meet Ivy Halliwell, your new partner,” Kendra said. “Ivy, Landon Donovan, Captain, Special Forces.”

They were going to have to pick his jaw up off the floor because Landon was damn sure that’s where it was after hearing that announcement. No way this walking wet dream was his partner. She looked like she couldn’t hurt a fly, much less do any kind of covert ops. They had to be messing with him.

Saturday Spankings - SADIE AND HER COWBOY!

Here are eight sentences from my cowboy erotic romance set in the old west called SADIE AND HER COWBOY!

I got the idea for the book when I was browsing the internet and came across a website about cattle drives back in the old west. In and of itself, not a very romantic topic, I admit, but it was cool reading about all the different jobs the people did and who was responsible for what. When I saw the old sepia photos of the cowboys back then, I didn't see a hot, hunky one among them. I decided the cowboy in my book must have been taking the photo because he's both hot and hunky! LOL!

Obviously, I couldn't write a whole book about a cattle drive! Where's the romance in that? But the cattle drive did give me a good idea - a woman owns a ranch and needs a hired gun to keep a local cattle baron from stealing it out from under her.

See, Sadie had to take over the ranch when her father was killed in a stampede. Now the vultures are descending, sure she won't have the stomach to do what's necessary to save her ranch.

But she's tougher than anyone thinks - tough enough to bring in Jake Wagner, a man with a gun and reputation. Not to mention gorgeous. I needed to get some conflict going - just to make it more interesting - so as you can imagine, Sadie and Jake butt heads right from the moment she hires him. Of course, that leads to some spankings (and bondage!), which in turns lead to some very hot sex!

Happy Reading!

She’d never been one to run from a fight, but the strange glint in his eye made her think it was time to make her escape. Mumbling something about wanting to get back to the ranch before it got dark, Sadie started to back away, but Jake caught her wrist.

“Wh-what are you doing?” she stammered.

He stopped and turned to face her. “Doing what someone should have done a long time ago.”

Sadie opened her mouth to ask him what in tarnation he was talking about, but all that came out was an “oomph,” as he sat down on a bale of hay and threw her over his knee.

“What—?” she began, but the rest of her words ended in a startled gasp as Jake’s hand came down on her upturned bottom.

The barbarian was spanking her!

Thanks for participating and visiting Saturday Spankings. Click on the link to check out the other authors on the tour! And if you'd like to read more from SADIE AND HER COWBOY I've included an excerpt below, as well as the buy links.

Blurb:

When a ruthless cattle baron is determined to do anything to get his hands on Sadie Buchanan's ranch, including running off her ranch hands and killing her cattle, she hires the infamous gunslinger Jake Wagner to protect her property.

Despite the fact that they butt heads right from the start, Sadie is helplessly drawn to the ruggedly handsome cowboy, even when he warms her bottom repeatedly for her willful and sometimes reckless behavior.

But all the cards are put on the table when Sadie bets the cattle baron that she, Jake and her small band of cowpokes can get more cattle to market than anyone in their right mind would attempt.

It's all or nothing for Sadie, her ranch and the dangerous cowboy she's fallen for hard.

Excerpt

Jake was at the bar when Sadie walked in, a drink in his hand and a heavily made-up saloon girl on either side of him. The man was so interested in whatever the more buxom of the two women was whispering in his ear he didn’t notice Sadie march across the room to stand in front of him. She wrinkled her nose. Good gracious, he reeked of whiskey even from this distance.

The chatter in the saloon all but ceased. Even the piano player had stopped tinkling the keys.

The saloon girl who wasn’t attached to his ear gave her a haughty look. She had curly, dark hair and a beauty mark painted on her cheek. “Can we help you?”

Sadie folded her arms and returned the woman’s superior gaze with one of her own. “As a matter of fact, yes. You can start by taking your hands off him.”

She was surprised Jake heard her over the sweet nothings the big-breasted strumpet was cooing in his ear, but he jerked his head up at the sound of her voice.

The dark-haired saloon girl lifted a brow. “And who are you to tell us what to do? His wife?”

Sadie wanted to laugh. She’d rather end up a spinster than marry a no-good, drunken lout like Jake Wagner. “I’m his employer.”

Both women looked confused at that. Which was rather surprising. Sadie thought for sure everyone in town would know she’d hired a new foreman. If they hadn’t before, they would after this.

She glared at Jake. “I didn’t pay you all that money in advance so you could come to the saloon and drink it all, you know.”

The good-for-nothing man had the nerve to flash her a grin that was both infuriating and heart-stopping at the same time. “Now, don’t go getting your pantaloons in a bunch, Miss Sadie. I didn’t spend all the money on whiskey.”

His words were only slightly slurred, which was rather amazing considering how much he’d probably drunk. She clenched her jaw. “I didn’t pay you all that money so you could some here and spend it on saloon girls, either. I expect more from my foreman.”

Jake regarded her lazily. “Why don’t you get along back to that ranch of yours and do what you do best, and I’ll stay here and do what I do best?”

She clenched her hands into fists to keep from slapping that smug face of his. “And what exactly do you do best, Mr. Wagner? Get drunk?”

The saloon erupted into laugher around them. Sadie was glad someone was amused.

“I’m not drunk,” he said.

She let out a snort. “Oh, please! You’re as drunk as a fiddler’s clerk.”

That earned her more laughs from the saloon’s patrons.

Jake pushed himself away from the bar. Sadie hadn’t realized how tall he was when he’d been sprawled out in the chair in front of her desk, but he positively towered over her. It was all she could do not to take a step back when he bent his head and put his mouth to her ear.

“Stop this right now and go back to the ranch like I told you.”

If Sadie had been paying attention, she would have realized his words weren’t slurred like before, but his nearness—combined with the feel of his warm breath on cheek—made it difficult to concentrate. Annoyed with herself for being so weak, she stepped back to give him a fierce look.

“I don’t take orders from you, Mr. Wagner. You take them from me,” she told him coldly. “Is that clear?”

Jake regarded her, his eyes locked with hers in a battle of wills, but Sadie wasn’t about to waiver.

“Looks like the little lady put you in yer place, but good,” a man laughed from the other side of the room.

The rest of the saloon must have thought it was just as funny. There were chortles and guffaws all around. Jake didn’t appear to think it was amusing at all, and if Sadie was smart, she would have stopped there. But pride and anger wouldn’t let her.

“Pay your bar tab if you have one, Mr. Wagner, because we’re leaving. You’re coming back to the ranch with me.”

Sadie didn’t wait to see if her new foreman followed, but turned and started for the door. She barely made it two steps before a strong hand caught her arm. She whirled around to see Jake glowering down at her.

“I’ll go with you, but when we get back to the ranch, you and I are going to have a talk,” he growled.

Sadie jerked her arm free of his grasp. Which was probably something she couldn’t have done if he hadn’t let her. She spun on her heel and headed for the door again. Jake stumbled after her. How could he seem stone-cold sober one minute, and drunk as a skunk the next?

“I don’t know why I let Ned talk me into hiring you,” she muttered as she led the way to the stable where she’d left the wagon. The sun was low in the sky now, bathing the street in shadows. “Who ever heard of a gunslinger managing a ranch anyway? You’re nothing but an outlaw who will work for anyone who pays your outrageous fee.”

She was in the stable before she realized Jake hadn’t made a single comment during her entire rant. The drunken lout had probably passed out in the street. Mouth tight, she spun around, prepared to drag him the rest of the way, only to stop short when she saw him standing behind her, arms folded across his broad chest, a scowl on his handsome face.

“Are you finished?” he asked.

Her brow furrowed. “How do you do that? Sound drunk one minute, and sober as I am the next?”

“I told you before. I’m not drunk.”

“Really? Then why do you smell like you just took a bath in a tub of whiskey?”

“Because I doused myself in the stuff before I went into the saloon.”

She frowned again. “Why would you do that?”

“So I could get the townsfolk to talk to me.” He shrugged his broad shoulders. “They won’t talk to a stranger, but they’ll sure as hell talk to a drunk.”

Sadie considered the logic of that. She supposed what he said made sense. That didn’t mean she wasn’t still upset with him. “Well, you could have told me, you know.”

“I did. I told you to go back to the ranch.”

“I meant before I went in there and made a fool of myself.”

Jake snorted. “I didn’t know you were going to follow me. I expected you to be at the ranch doing woman’s work.”

Sadie’s eyes narrowed. “Woman’s work? You mean like sewing quilts and washing clothes?”

“Exactly.”

Chauvinist pig. “Because those are the only things a woman can do, right?” She tried to rein in her temper, but it was quickly nearing its boiling point again. “I’ll have you know I’ve been doing a lot more than sewing quilts and washing clothes out at the ranch since my father died, Mr. Wagner.”

“Maybe that’s why you’re in the predicament you’re in.”

The words cut Sadie more deeply than she wanted to admit, maybe because she’d often wondered if she was partly to blame for making the ranch such an easy target. But she’d be damned if she was going to let a gunslinger like Jake Wagner take her to task for it. Before she even realized what she was doing, she lifted her hand and slapped him hard across the face.

The sound of it echoed in the stable, but Sadie barely heard it. Instead, she stood there, shocked by what she’d just done. She’d never hit anyone in her life.
There was no way Jake could have expected her to slap him, and yet he didn’t seem surprised by her show of violence. He did look angry, though. His jaw was clenched so tightly she thought it might crack.

She’d never been one to run from a fight, but the strange glint in his eye made her think it was time to make her escape. Mumbling something about wanting to get back to the ranch before it got dark, Sadie started to back away, but Jake caught her wrist. Without a word, he strode across the enclosure, dragging her with him. The fury she’d felt earlier gave way to fear.
